It is a very common practice in majority of the business companies that managers work more than the employees. A manager works for at least 12 hours a day whereas an average employee works for 8 hours at best.

Now we all know that managers do get paid more than their subordinates. But is the extra payment good enough and can it justify the extra amount of effort that the manager puts in?

I would say the answer in NO. If you calculate and bring down the yearly salary of a manager to an hourly basis, you will find out that, a managers hourly income is less than that of a normal employee. Because the manager is not getting paid at the same hourly basis scale as the subordinates are.

This was the mathematics. But it’s not the only angle to look at this issue. Managers work from early morning to late night. This causes a severe lack of sleep and can affect the health and mind negatively. And to cure these problems they end up spending half of their money at the doctor’s place. Moreover, the job stress and tension does not help their cause. To add to this, their personal life gets the worst possible shape as the wives of managers have a zillion complains about them not sharing enough time with her or the children.

Again, the job stress that leads to sleeplessness causes inefficiency. It hampers decision making and thereby affects the performance. When that happens, managers never find a scarcity of people to question their ability and loyalty. So in a nutshell, managers losing their sanity for getting the job done for a company and in the process, getting cursed by the higher authority.

If you are a manager and you are a victim of this situation, then the best thing to do is delegate your authority. Trusting your subordinates is very important. You need to share your workload with them and relax a bit. If you are not confident about them, then train them. Share your knowledge with them. Let them take a few decisions. This will help them to grow as a responsible subordinate and will also give you more time to spend with your family.

Try to decrease your working hours and if you act smart you can get your job done by working 2 hours less every day. Try to do that and you might get your job and salary justified.

fired_FINALUnemployment gaps can be a bad thing for your resume if you do not represent it in a nice way. If you are unemployed for a period of time then it creates the employment gap. As days go by the gap widens and becomes more embarrassing and can affect your confidence level negatively. Try to fill the gap as early as possible.

Volunteering can be a way to fill up the gap. It will help you to fill up the time that you have been unemployed. Maximum jobs that you find in the business world are available as a volunteer job. But if you don’t find the one that suits you, then learn something new. You can find a lot like this if you search the internet. So you have no excuse to sit and relax at home.

Volunteering is a great way for you to grow a network. You will meet a lot of new people. Some of them will be paid and some will be unpaid. Your contacts will rapidly increase and who knows, may be some of them will help you to get a job.

It’s not always a pleasant experience to work as a volunteer. You might not like all the people you work with but that is fair enough. It is the same everywhere. But if you are lucky you might get a job that will provide you a pleasant work environment and funny work buddies.
When you write about your position as a volunteer in your resume, make sure you write it like a normal job position. The only difference is that it was unpaid. It can be a good topic for discussion during the interview.

You can always put volunteering as a plus point in your resume. It will represent you as a persistent and strong personality. It also fills up the unemployment gap in your resume.

Make sure you drop your resume along with a great cover letter. This will make your resume a more attractive one and can earn you a good job that you really need.

Ingvar Feodor Kamprad is a Swedish entrepreneur was born in Pjätteryd in Almhult Municipality and grew up on a farm called Älmtaryd near the small village of Agunnaryd in Liungby Municipality in the province of Smaland, Sweden on March 30,1926.

According to Forbes magazine, he is the richest person in Europe and the 5th wealthiest person in the world in 2009, with an estimated net worth of around US$22 billion.

When Kamprad was a young boy he buys the matches from Stockholm in bulk very cheaply and sell them individually at a low price from his bicycle. From matches, he expanded to selling fish, Christmas tree decorations, seeds and later ballpoint pens and pencils. When Kamprad was 17, his father gave him a reward for succeeding in his studies. He used this money to establish the home furnishing retail chain IKEA.spaceball

The acronym IKEA is made up of the initials of his name (Ingvar Kamprad) plus those of Elmtaryd (now spelled Älmtaryd) , the family farm where he was born; and the nearby village Agunnaryd.

9599_8440Sphinx _ Ikea 009Kamprad lived in Switzerland since 1976. At that time he maintained a very simple life. He drives a 15 year old Volvo, use economy class during air travel and take very cheap meals. He always encourages his IKEA employees to write on both sides of a paper.

Swedish business weekly Veckans Affarer reported that Kamprad is the wealthiest person in the world, assuming that he owns the entire IKEA Company. But both IKEA and the Kamprad family reject that report because Kamprad personally retains little ownership in the company. He transferred his interest to Stichting INGKA Foundation and INGKA holding as part of a complex tax sheltering scheme.

The sliding value of the US dollar in 2005 put Kamprad ahead as the richest person in the world. In March 2009, Forbes magazine estimated his fortune at US$22 billion, making him the 5th richest person in the world.

Though he retired in 1986; as company’s “senior adviser” he still reportedly works tirelessly on his brand. His sons all work at the company.
